Your first treatment with the osteopath

We can offer you a fast and efficient emergency treatment at our London osteopathy clinics. We have a competent and highly experienced team of osteopaths, who have provided emergency treatments since 2001. As with most medical conditions, early diagnosis is vital in achieving a speedy recovery, delays in diagnosis of many conditions can impede recovery by weeks. Many of the conditions that we treat can be found on our Conditions page. Your emergency appointment will take 45 minutes, at the end of which, we will advise you about further treatment if necessary.

Consultation

You will have a private consultation where the osteopath will spend time taking a thorough medical history. examination by the osteopath All your details will be handled with the strictest confidentiality. This gives the osteopath a background about your health, such as surgeries, accidents, the onset of your condition, and other details affecting your current health.

Examination

A thorough orthopaedic, neurological, and osteopathic examination is performed. Based on the findings, the osteopath will decide whether any additional investigations are necessary before treatment can begin, such as X-rays, MRI, CT scans and urine or blood tests. In some cases it may also be necessary to contact your GP.

Treatment

Manual techniques where the osteopath uses their hands, such as Specific spinal adjustments, soft tissue techniques, massage, cranial and other gentle techniques can decrease pain, improve joint mobility, decrease muscle spasm, reduce nerve interference and improve circulation increasing your health. Osteopathic adjustment is the application of precise force in accurate direction on a specific joint that is out of alignment or “fixated” (not moving properly). Osteopathy has been proven to be remarkably safe - much safer than taking pain killers! After treatment, many patients report increased general wellbeing -not just improvement with the problem that made them turn to osteopathy in the first place.

Report of Findings

osteopath treatment report After reviewing all the information the osteopath will provide you with a confidential report and will explain everything to you in detail, what is the cause of your symptoms, what can be done about it, how long it will take, how much treatment is required and how much will it cost. A treatment plan will be tailored to suit your specific needs and any questions or concerns you may have will be answered. Progress is monitored with periodic examinations and follow-up reports.

Advice

The osteopath will explain how bad posture and spinal decay have contributed to your pain. You may be given specific exercises to do at home and other advice regarding ice and heat as well as advice on ergonomics in you work place and better posture.

Most medical insurance will cover osteopathy but we do ask that you initially settle your account with the Practice at the time of your appointment and then claim from your insurers. We accept cash or cheques, but do not have credit/switch card facilities.

We have 2 osteopathy clinics in London, one is in Docklands, within easy reach of Canary Wharf, Limehouse, Heron Quays, South Quay, Crossharbour, West India Docks, Poplar and Marsh Wall. The other is in Eltham, close to the south circular and just down from Eltham High Street. It is within easy reach of Lee, New Eltham, Mottingham, Kidbrooke, Blackheath, Sidcup and Blackfen.
