...bad back, restricted ability
I had a spell in hospital with a very bad back. My chief concern was my restricted ability.
Some time later I went to my GP, he advised me to change to painkillers.
I decided then to go to an osteopath. I felt better from my first visit. I am now finding doing things so much easier. I would like others to enjoy this improvement I now have.
...severe back spasm
I had severe back spasm for three years affecting my right leg all the way down affecting my foot.
My own GP sent me for an x-ray. The results came back saying it was just wear and tear, with that I was prescribed pain killers that never helped with the pain.
I decided to see an osteopath and just on my first visit with the treatment and also some helpful information I started to get some relief from the pain.
I now go regularly on a monthly visit and for long periods I am completely free of pain.
...hardly anymore headaches
The treatment was amazing, I can now move well without pain, hardly anymore headaches and can sleep well which was unbearable some nights and very restless.
All in all a very good experience and very worthwhile. I can't thank you enough.
...suffered with back pain for many years
I have suffered with back pain for many years, and each time turned to painkillers to help relieve it. However the last time I was in so much pain I could hardly walk and I was advised by a relative to visit an Osteopath rather than keep taking tablets. After the first couple of visits to Paul I felt so much better and was amazed when I heard all the things that were wrong with my back. Now at the end of my treatment I feel wonderful and if I ever have a problem in the future, I would not think twice about going back for more treatment. I have since recommended the clinic to anyone I know who is suffering with a back problem.
...arthritis in my neck
When I developed arthritis in my neck and started to experience quite bad headaches I decided to try osteopathy.
I had an initial consultation with the osteopath, Paul Musk, and it was concluded that I could benefit from treatment.
The results have been good, it is no longer painful to turn my head and the headaches have stopped.
As arthritis does not go I still have periodic treatments to keep the condition under control.
...I was a bit scared
My name is Jean. I had never been to an osteopath until March '07. I was a bit scared as I didn't know what to expect, but I was in a lot of pain with my back and tablets from my local GP hadn't helped.
After a couple of sessions I felt so much better. I now go about every couple of months. Paul the osteopath makes you feel so at ease and he is so easy to talk to. I would recommend this treatment to anyone with back pain as after my treatment I feel so much better, also my movements are easier and I sleep much better.
...lower back pain, crumbled disc
I have suffered lower back pain for many years due to a crumbled disc; this over time caused more probIems to top of back, neck and shoulder.
After a previous bad experience with another osteo I was reluctant to go. Then a friend recommended Paul, so I have in and took the plunge.
The initial visit was comfortable and reassuring. My back problem was fully explained in a diagram and a treatment plan was drawn up between myself and Paul.
Since receiving and finishing my designated treatment, I am pain free and movement easier. Therefore I am continuing with further intermittent treatment to prevent the reassurance of pain.
...I cannot recommend osteopathy highly enough.
I awoke one morning to find that my back had literally seized up overnight and I could hardly get out of bed. I knew that I needed professional help so I got the Yellow Pages out and found the Eltham Health Clinic. They agreed to see me straight away and I arrived in absolute agony, not able to straighten my back at all. The problem was quickly diagnosed and after some gentle manipulation I left the Clinic in a lot less discomfort. A programme of treatment was outlined for me and several months later I am back leading a fit and active life.
I cannot recommend Osteopathy highly enough.
...after each treatment I had a lot of relief
My first treatment with Paul was for lower back pain and difficulty getting out of bed with pain on straightening up and also pain getting out of a chair after sitting for say an hour.
Paul started my treatment with lots of "oh's" and "ah's" from me when he found the exact spots of pain. After each treatment I had a lot of relief and I thank Paul for making my back much better enabling me to exercise, dance etc.
Thank you Paul.
...muscle damage, developed a limp
Before visiting the Eltham Osteopathy Clinic I was suffering from muscle damage in my left groin and had developed a limp. Before this I had been a very active person and felt this to be my last resort.
Not so, it really should have been my first as I feel I can now carry on life as before.
...after first consultation, 80% of the pain was gone
Having sprained my lower back whilst playing tennis, I was in agony for 3 months. The pain was so bad that I had an x-ray to check for structural damage but none was revealed.
On the recommendation of a friend, I visited Paul Musk, though I was very sceptical.
After the first consultation with Paul, 80% of the pain was gone and 100% of the movement was restored
He was brilliant!
...I am now virtually pain free the whole time...
I have a congenital condition called spina bifida occulta which basically means the base of my spine is not properly formed and when the facet joints 'shift' which they do from time to time, can cause agonising pain. After a really bad flare up when my G.P. could offer no further assistance other than pain killers which are of limited use, in desperation I consulted Paul, the osteopath. Amazingly his manipulation of my spine and lower back have helped me enormously and I am now virtually pain free the whole time and now on a maintenance programme to monitor for continued progress. I would recommend osteopathy whole heartedly and only wish I have begun it years ago.
...my back problems have been resolved...
I had suffered for many years with my lower back aching and going into spasm. I could not stand for more than five minutes without my back tightening up causing all kinds of problems. I also had a problem lying flat on my back as this would cause the back to tighten up as well.
After attending the Eltham Osteopathy Clinic, following an accident to my ribs, I told Paul of my back problems and after a year of ongoing treatment, my back problems have been resolved.
I can stand for very long periods without the back tightening up. I have even carried out gardening and this too has been a joy, with no back pain at all. I can also lay flat on my back now with no problem.
I have been so pleased with the treatment that I have received and will continue with regular visits to make sure my back remains in good shape.
...an operation was suggested, I needed an alternative solution
An operation was suggested to correct numbness in my hands allegedly caused by carpel tunnel syndrome. Concerned at the potential side effects, I looked for an alternative solution and contacted my osteopath, Paul Musk. He soon established that my problem was in fact tennis elbow and following a course of treatment there has been a substantial improvement.
I would recommend osteopathy not only for the solution to specific ailments but also the holistic approach which promotes a general feeling of well being.
...By the third session I had stopped taking the painkillers and was able to stand on the 20 minute commute to work
The past 2 years have been a nightmare, I was suffering from intense pain in both hips and lower back, I had numbness in my legs and face, bad coordination and spent a lot of time using a walking stick as I was prone to falls – my legs were like jelly after standing for only a few minutes.
At first my doctor sent me to a physiotherapist but that just made matters worse and that led my doctor to suspect MS so he referred me to a neurologist, who in turn sent me for countless MRI scans, a lumber puncture and an eye revoke test. It took 18 months to conclude that it wasn’t MS. I was getting neurologist appointments every 6 months and during the time in between my doctor would only treat me with stronger and stronger pain killers refusing to look into any other treatment. In the end I was on morphine which was making me sick if I forgot to take just one, I was hardly eating or sleeping. My husband had started sleeping in the spare room as every time he moved in the night I would wake in pain. I had hit a deep depression; I was taking so many tablets that if I had been able to jump I guess I would have rattled!
It was thanks to a friend who had been talking about sending his son to an osteopath for treatment on an ankle that led me to investigate osteopathic treatment. I was desperate for an end to pain and I was willing to try anything.
I was apprehensive on that 1st day, the doctors had failed me and I knew little about what was about to happen. In all honesty I really didn’t expect anything, the doctors were bandying around all sorts of theories, some very scary and this just seemed to be too simple. Paul did many of the neurological tests that I had had done at the hospital, I thought at the time that was a good sign. He understood what I was trying to explain and was quick to pinpoint the real problem areas and when he said he was sure that he could get me pain free I believed it. In those 20 minutes he had gained my confidence and I’m not a gullible person.
The sessions were intense and I won’t deny some of it was painful at times but as I improved and muscles relaxed it got easier and the changes happened so fast. The numbness went first, completely in my legs and noticeably in my face and I was even able to walk home pain free and that was the first session. By the third I had stopped taking the painkillers and was even able to stand on the 20 minute commute to work, something I hadn’t done in ages. I’ve now got to get used to the husband’s snoring again but you can’t have everything!
I’ve still got a way to go, after all it was left untreated for so long but I feel so much better, happier in myself and I’m looking forward to getting back to exercising so I can regain my fitness and not feel like an old lady anymore! I am looking forward to going back to the doctor to tell him too, I hope he takes note and uses the option of sending others to an osteopath for treatment, the more people who know they don’t have to live with the pain the better. I know I’ll be telling everyone what it’s done for me.
...Told by my doctor I would just have to live with back pain
After several years of back pain, 2 back operations, numerous steroid injections and lots of different pain killers, I was told by my doctor that I would just have to learn to live with my lower back pain.
Everyday tasks would be so painful I couldn’t sleep, I needed help getting dressed and it could take me over 20 minutes to get up each morning, some days I couldn’t even get into my car but worst of all I couldn’t lift my 4 year old son. I was not ready to give up my life with a young family so as a last resort searched for ‘back pain’ on the internet. I called Eltham Osteopathy Clinic and the receptionist squeezed me in the same day. However, when I arrived and saw the stairs I almost turned and went away! But I struggled on and was met by a friendly face and was made to feel at ease.
Paul took time to listen to me and examined me thoroughly and he actually believed I was in pain. He then informed me he could make me pain free. After my first 3 sessions I didn’t feel there was any improvement, I certainly wasn’t pain free, but I kept with the programme and gradually started to notice subtle changes like I could walk to the shops and back without needing to sit down, but the greatest day of all was when my son came running at me and instead of cringing with pain I just bent down and scooped him up. I can recommend Paul to anyone who has back pain, he has given me back my life and I am so grateful I found such a caring Clinic.
...after receiving treatment the pain is less... it has been a success and I would recommend it!
It all started about a year ago, I had a lot of pain in my lower back every time I woke up.
It got so bad I went to the doctor and they sent me for x-rays and put me on a course of pain killers. This didn’t help and the doctor said that there isn’t anything else that he could do.
That’s when I was recommended to go to the osteopath by a family member.
The team were very understanding and after my examination it turned out that most of my spine was painful. After receiving the treatment the pain is less and I am able to sleep for longer periods it has been a success and I would recommend it.
He proved a bit of a sceptic very wrong!...
Following recurring neck problems I began to suffer constant lower backache after a car crash and was constantly taking pain killers. A colleague recommended I visit an osteopath to relieve the pain. I must admit to being a little sceptical at first.
Ben was very thorough and explained the use of each method of treatment and the potential outcome. He also gave me some light exercises to do at home and helped me understand and work towards correcting postural habits which exacerbate my neck and back pain.
The pain and stiffness in the joints and muscles is virtually non-existent following the treatment administered and I have been able to take control of the problem rather than let it control me. I am very grateful to Ben for all of his help, and he proved a bit of a sceptic very wrong!
...the pains have stopped and I have much more movement...
I first went to see the osteopath with back and neck problems which were causing me severe pain and restricting my movement, caused as a result of my work as a chef.
Since seeing Ben the pains have stopped and I have much more movement in my back, making work and everyday life much easier!
..I am pain free and with no medication used...
After weeks and weeks of back pain (trapped nerve), unable to walk or sleep without pain and numerous visits to my GP being prescribed painkillers which were totally ineffective, my GP recommended that I see his osteopath, Paul Musk at his clinic in Eltham.
On arrival at the clinic I was made very welcome and put at ease by the team.
My first appointment with Paul was very good with a thorough examination and case history check. I was very impressed. The program Paul proposed for the following weeks was very detailed.
Over the following 8 weeks my pain eased greatly and now after 8 weeks, I am pain free (great feeling) and with no medication used. When asked by family and friends about my back I reply anyone suffering from back pain, I highly recommend seeing an osteopath and get pain free.
...a significant improvement in my general health...
For as long as I can recall I have suffered from constipation. During my recent treatment for lower back pain, I have noticed a significant improvement in my general health, including my stomach disorder.
...now I can walk upstairs...
I’m so pleased to get my life back to normal again. I know the osteopath will help me to get my health back.
I am from Thailand and came firstly for my stiffness and pain. When I first arrived at the clinic I could not walk very much. After the first treatment I felt better, after 8 treatments I feel normal now. I also had knee trouble for 20 months; I couldn’t walk onto a step. Now I can walk upstairs.
I will recommend osteopathy to everyone who has back and neck problems. I like osteopathy, they are very professional and you don’t need to take any medicines.
For the benefit of those who it may concern
I had the good fortune of being introduced to Paul at Eltham Osteopathy. I was suffering from a bad shoulder which was giving me a lot of pain especially when driving; I had sharp pains every time i went to change gear. I put it down to age and an old van.
In the first consultation I had, Paul checked me out and ran a few tests. He used some great state of the art, space age, computer controlled device. Within a few moments Paul identified the problem, and quite clearly explained to me what could be done.
I soon understood not only did Paul have an excellent approach to his patients but also a good practise model. He was very clear that any treatment given to me would only be good is i did my part. We had to work together.
Paul's team of staff are all very professional and kind which made me feel at ease. They are great on the phone when i had to ask questions, and all very understanding.
I had to do my exercises, and commit myself to a course of treatment. Within a short time my shoulder felt better, and in fact I began to feel better. My posture and stance had seemed to improved. I have now come to the end of my course of treatment, my shoulder is just great (however I still need to do those exercises) and my driving has improved!
Paul does recommend follow up treatments, and I shall take him up on this and book appointments for the future. I'm sure my shoulder will be fine, but I can't wait to try to improve my posture even more.
I have spoken to many patients in the reception room, and they all seemed to have similar stories to mine. I am convinced that Osteopathy treatment is the way forward, and I would recommend Paul and his team at Eltham Osteopathy to anyone who is in pain, or perhaps feels not as good as they should.
Dear Paul, I must admit I was apprehensive when going for my first treatment with you when I injured my hip. I had never been to an osteopath before but you soon put me at ease. After a lot of pummelling stretching and spine adjusting which did put me out of my comfort zone, I was amazed how quickly the pain improved after just one treatment. The following two treatments proved to be as effective and I am back at my Bootcamp classes now.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the healing hands of Paul Musk to anyone in any pain.
I had sciatica for months, had lots of physio, I also had 2 injections, which helped a little for the pain but did not cure me. I started to see the osteopath and after a few months could see the benefits. I was on Ibruprofen all the time, but haven't been for months. The best thing I did was to see the osteopath. He has helped me so much. I just do my exercises now. I would recommend an osteopath for back injury. Wish I went in the first place.
...look at me now...
It all started years ago with having Lumbago, Sciatica, back pain which has had its toll on me but read on:
Now I can shop again normally like (I used to be able to spend 8 hours in IKEA before I was old and broken).
From thinking I was old and useless, ready for retirement to feeling at least 10 years younger and fitter.
I can bend down and pick things up from the floor, before I used to shuffle it around before even attempting to pick it up and when my back was really bad leave it still on the floor until someone else picked it up for me.
Simple day to day tasks which I had taken for granted was slowly being taken away as I became incapable of doing them, like hovering the carpets someone else had to do this for me as I would really suffer in pain if I did do it.
Why I now feel 10 years younger:-
I was in pain and increasing the strength of pain killers from the doctor and thought it would just disappear but after months and months of recurring back pain I asked the doctor to send me for treatment as it was getting worse to the point I was thinking of retiring from a job I liked and could not afford to retire from. All my friends knew how bad I was and said it was my body telling me to pack up work.
The doctor sent me for Physio at the hospital and the first visit was OK as he was just checking me out and said I had bullet points. (muscle spasms). Treatment was given on the second time I visited which was horrific where he pressed into the buttocks where the pain was it seemed he was trying to flatten the muscle with his knuckles, it made me feel sick so told him so and that I could not take this harsh treatment and it also made it worse the next day and could not go to work. He said he would try a gentler treatment but again even touching the spot where the pain was it still hurt and when I came out of the hospital my legs felt like jelly and I was very light headed. Again the next day the pain was a lot, lot worse and I could not even stand up - I was in bed for 3 days. I went back to my doctor and told her I could not stand this physio and I could not afford to take time off work and the pain was much worse so it was obviously not the right treatment - she said I would have to finish the course of treatment at the hospital.
My son was very concerned and as he had not seen me like this before and told me about his friend who went to an Osteopath in Eltham as he had had a major accident but the Osteopath had helped him a lot.
I made an appointment and was very nervous after the last treatment I had received but at this point I was going to give up work. I was not sure this would work but it was my last resort after the doctor I felt had given up on me.
My first visit to the Osteopath was very professional and I am sure they sensed I was nervous especially when I told them what had happened at the Physio Hospital they looked quite shocked and said that that was not going to happen with their treatment. Everything was explained about being given a scan and what it was for. The scan only took about 10/15 minutes and from this hopefully they would be able to tell what was wrong and why I was in so much pain, (my worst fears were that they may not be able to do anything and that the problem will be with me for the rest of my life have to live on painkillers), they could see from the scan what the problem was and would talk to me more on the next visit.
On my second visit I was told it was serious but it was treatable, I was so relieved knowing that something could be done to stop the pain and that I may even be normal again.
My treatment was strange as it was gentle and it did not hurt at all, it was more like a strong massage. I could really feel the difference after each treatment and the following week the bullet points (as the Physio called them) had gone. I felt taller and straighter. Everything felt like it was flowing through my body like a rush - a very nice feeling of relief as though my body was telling me it was about time I had sorted it out.
I found the receptionists very friendly and e-mail me before my next appointment which I find very helpful with such a busy work load.
I was told the treatment would take some weeks even though the pain had gone in the first few weeks there are parts of my back that need correcting which may not be noticed now but may cause problems in the future. I know this to be true as they told me about the lumbar part of my back which I had trouble with years ago and forgotten about but obviously left the scars. Everything made sense to me when they explained about different parts of my back that had caused me trouble years before.
When I told the Osteopath that I wanted to retire because of the pain and I don't think I can do it any more she said don't not to make any decisions yet - I am so glad I listened as I love my job and did not want to leave.
My life has certainly changed for the better besides feeling 10 years younger, I have much more confidence now and don't hesitate to pick things up off the floor or bending down to get things out of the cupboard as I know it is not going to hurt. It is quite scary when you are experiencing back pain as you are not sure if you are going to get up again when you go down to get anything. I can put tights on and socks without going into all funny positions to get them on because I can bend now where I could not before. I don't panic if I get on a bus and have to stand, I just prayed the bus would not pull up sharp and I would end up on the floor and not being able to get up again. I can walk up and down stairs normally now not just one at a time slowly it used to take ages to get up even one flight of stairs. Every day I keep finding things I can do more easily that I could not do before which we all take for granted. I really began to think that I at 63 years old that this is what life is like, painful and helpless relying on others to help you if you dropped anything on the floor they would pick it up for you. I even went to the Ideal Home Exhibition for most of the day without feeling any pain and felt fine the next day.
I know a few young people who have trouble with their backs and I told them that if they do see an Osteopath they will help them and it will prevent them getting the pain back sometime in the future if it is corrected now.
I have also realised I have not taken any pain killing tablets for some time now which proves my body is acting normally again.
I am so grateful to the Osteopath for mending my broken body and turning it into a working vessel again.
I was in severe pain which moved between my shoulder blades going across my left shoulder down my left arm to my hand. I had numbness in my fingers and hand. The pain was very very intense and I felt I could not get away from it. I was unable to sleep or sit in any one position and it was very difficult to get comfortable.
I contacted my GP on the Friday who prescribed co-codamol over the phone. This didn't help at all so I made an appointment with my GP on the Monday. The GP gave me diclofenic and paracetamol. He suggested that I go to A&E if the pain got worse. The pain got worse so I went to A&E and they prescribed me 3 days of diazepam which took me through the weekend, still taking paracetamol, diclofenic and diazepam. The pain was still as intense 5 days later and no change so I went back to A&E. This time they offered codine on arrival but still no treatment. A referral was made for an MRI scan but this would take 6 weeks as it had to go via my GP. By this time, I was beside myself.
When a friend's father offered me a lifeline, the Eltham Osteopathy Clinic, I made an appointment asap. I met Paul Musk who explained what he did and how he could help. He put me at ease straight away. His treatment plan and diagnosis on my first visit was such a relief. I feel much better and got back to work within two weeks of treatment, I stopped all medication.
I would highly recommend Osteopathy if you experience any pain in your back, neck, arm or leg. I feel that I would not be in good health if I had not had Osteopathy.
...I am off my pain killers at last...
I have been suffering from lower back pain for almost 12 years brought about by being a nurse. I’ve had numerous physio treatments, referrals to pain clinics and seen three different osteopaths. I’ve always known that osteopathy treatment is the way for me but this was strongly confirmed when I met Paul Musk. My mother saw his article in one of the local newspapers a year ago. Due to financial issues I carried on with my GP’s plan to be under the physio and pain clinic first and see if they can help. Fate, I guess, stepped in when I saw Paul’s Eltham Osteopathy Clinic is on GROUPON. I then bought the coupon and finally met Paul Musk who was so accommodating, friendly and professional. He said he can help me and asked if I want to get better, “that’s what I have been looking for all these years”. I had NASA Scan (EMG) and to my surprise so many problems came up in my entire back from my neck, scoliosis and obviously my long-term problem in the lower back. I was committed and attended all of my sessions. Now I am happy that almost 80-85% of my problems are fixed. I am off my pain killers. I started to recommend his clinic to friends and colleagues. As Paul said to me, “do you stop looking for another dentist despite coming across a few bad ones?” Yes I have found my great osteopath! Keep it up Paul and your team!
From being in constant pain to becoming pain free without realising it was tremendous
I stood up from a chair at a festival about 18 months ago and experienced an awful pain in my back. As a trooper I got through the festival but could not wait to get home to a hot bath – which did not help. I was recommended to an osteopath by a friend which relieved the problem but did not cure it. I was then recommended to Eltham Osteopathy Clinic by another friend, which literally changed the way I live. Prior to my first consultation I literally had to hold on to my daughter to travel around London. I had really bad pain down one leg and constant numbness and pins and needles. Trips to the doctor advised pain killers and anti-inflammatory. Paul performed the scan and I was horrified at the state of my spine and found it unbelievable that a lot of the problems areas were where I received no pain. The situation was fully explained to me as were the three levels of treatment. After visiting Paul once a week for six weeks I was able to live a more comfortable life and not worry about going out etc. It was only when I was in the second phase – recovery – that I suddenly became aware that I was no longer in any pain at all. From being in constant pain to becoming pain free without realising it was tremendous.
I do realise the importance of maintaining the treatment to ensure I can live my life as I am at present. My friends and family now say I am walking normally again and I am no longer worried about going out and leading my life.
I appreciate the treatment can seem expensive but I can assure you it is well worth it. I am however very concerned that this makes it exclusive to some when it is such a beneficial therapy. I really think the health profession need to view it as a necessity as it can enhance lives so much rather than irrelevant drugs which just mask the problem.
I have not felt this well for a number of years and my younger sister is delighted to see the new me
I would first like to state that I am an elderly woman in my late seventies.
In 2010 I had an extreme attack of sciatica and some other problems with my spine. The pain went diagonally across my left buttock and down the thigh of my left leg. I could only move around my small flat by pushing a small tea trolley and was unable to put items on the second shelf of the top units in the kitchen because when I stretched my arm above my shoulder my left side was so very painful. The consultant who viewed and wrote up details of my x-ray recommended strong painkillers that had unpleasant side effects, referred me to the physiotherapy department where I had treatment for three months and to have a bone scan. The bone scan showed that I had osteoporosis and I was given Alendronic to take once a week. Eventually, I was able to stop taking Paracetamol and Ibruprofen, then I was able to use a four wheeled walker and later I began using a walking stick of which I began going out again. In 2013 I was given another bone scan which showed my bone density had improved by 37% and I no longer needed to take 70mg of Alendronic Acid once a week.
Unfortunately in April 2013 I developed pains in my left thigh and my GP, who has always been very helpful and understanding, said that I had a degenerative back that was slightly curved. She referred me to the physiotherapy department and after a month I was given an appointment. The physiotherapist gave me a thorough check and gave me three exercises to do and I was told to make an appointment for the next month. When I was walking home after my visit to the physiotherapist I started to cry a little, the thought of being continually in some form of pain, sometimes relying on a member of my family to do my shopping etc was depressing. When I got to my home I immediately went to my bookshelves and looked up Osteopathic Clinics.
On my first visit to see Steve I was using a crutch as this gave me more support than a walking stick. When we were in his consulting room I gave him copies of documents stating the condition of my spine in 2010. Steve read these documents and quietly said “we’ll see if we can stop occurring so frequently.” I was then shown a model of the spine and explained the nature of the pads between each vertebrae. It was the first time anybody had implied that something could be done to improve my situation. My first impression of Steve was that he would treat me as an absolute individual with a physical problem who needed assistance in dealing with her pain. During my visits for treatment, Steve has more than lived up to my first impression. He always carefully listens to the comments that I make about how certain areas feel after I have done my exercises and later treats the relevant places.
After a few treatments I stopped using my crutch and used my walking stick. The bonus day came when I travelled on the bus and walked into the clinic without my walking stick and without needing any painkillers. I have not felt this well for a number of years and my younger sister is delighted to see the new me. I’m tackling mundane jobs in a much lighter mood. I feel that getting my health back is just one big bonus.
My friends, neighbours and other associates tell me how well I look and how well I’m walking. I just tell them that I’m going to an Osteopathic clinic.
It was the best thing that I had ever done and I wish I had come sooner as my back was in a very bad way
I had back pain on and off for 20 years but the last 5 years I have been suffering with a constant, dull ache and not much movement due to the pain in the whole of my back. Everybody kept on telling me about the osteopath but I just put up with the pain, my mum started to come to the osteopath and told me I had to go so I made that appointment. The staff are so friendly and efficient. It was the best thing that I had ever done and I wish I had come sooner as my back was in a very bad way. I started to feel the difference from the third treatment, now I feel 100% better and have got more movement in my back.
I would recommend this to anybody suffering with pain because there is no need to suffer. If you have the slightest pain go and get it sorted before things go too far.
I have had Back Problems for over 20yrs
I have had back problems for over 20yrs now. In February this year I had another episode of not being able to move for 2 weeks. I came here in agony and tears. I was told this was totally fixable and could be pain free. Having been in some form of pain on a daily basis for the past 3-4 years, I was very sceptical. However 5 months on and I am pain free!!
Bobby has been very reassuring, friendly and informative the whole way through. I cannot thank him enough for his skills and kind manner. I would recommend seeing an osteopath to anyone with back pain.
Eltham Osteopathy Clinic – Getting Me Moving
One day last week I left work walked for half a mile to pick up a package, then I walked another half a mile to meet up with some friends. After that I went home and up the next day doing jobs about the house and then into to town to shop. All normal activities that most people would think unremarkable.
Let's go back go back to the start.
Since the beginning of the year I had been having problems with my back, hips and to a certain extent my knees, which severely restricting my movement and made walking difficult. The pain in my back also prevented a good night’s sleep and all this contributed to me being generally low in energy.
I had to leave work early one day and taking a taxi from the station to home, a taxi driver seeing my problems walking suggested I visit an osteopath in Eltham Hill. They had helped him with his occupational back problems.
On the following day I rang Eltham Osteopathy Clinic and made an appointment for a couple of days hence. Given my problems I needed a cab to get me there.
On my arrival I met Paul and he said that we would go to the room upstairs for an assessment. My heart sank, stairs! He explained that following the assessment he would decide whether my problems could be treated by osteopathy and if so a course of treatment would be drawn up. A couple of days later Paul outlined both nature of the problems and the course of treatment required. So I embarked on a number of visits twice weekly initially and then weekly,
Improvement was gradual but noticeable. Eventually cabs weren’t needed and I would walk, albeit slowly, from the station to the clinic on my way home from work.
So the improvement continued. When another assessment was due the idea of going upstairs did not worry me.
Energy was returning. Sleep was improving.
So much so that I am able to walk to the station in the morning and walk to work at the other end of the journey. No longer planning routes and finding buses that take me as close to the door as possible.
I am how back to being busy about the house, going to work and gone back to pursuing my interests which were on hold for most of the year. I have also started yoga to maintain and enhance the improvements.
I have periodic spells of experiencing pain in my lower back (left sacroiliac joint) which can be caused by doing something as simple as leaning forward to clean my teeth! At my first appointment I could barely walk or sit and was in absolute agony. My husband had helped me slowly into the car to get there as I could not drive myself. After my first session with Bobby I could stand upright and was almost pain-free when I returned to the car. His manipulation treatment released the joint and I could move much more easily. He recommended the application of ice and bending my knees into my chest every hour or so. Bobby’s treatment is educated, sensitive and non-patronising and very effective. He explains fully what he is going to do and keeps you informed throughout the treatment in a calm and re-assuring manner. I've been extremely impressed by his skills as an osteopath and both his professional and personal bearing and I cannot recommend him highly enough. Thank you Bobby.
Hi Bobby, This is just a message to say thank you again for the great treatment you gave me regarding my back pain. I have seen numerous physiotherapists and osteopaths over the years which were all unsuccessful.
I am extremely happy with the results after your treatments and I am still pain free several months later. Many thanks

Not a great start to the New Year as I began to go downhill with my illness. Let me explain – I am very asthmatic and I have suffered all my life with asthma. Even though I visited my Doctor a few times in Jan, Feb & Mar 2013 and despite being palmed off with antibiotics and steroids (on top of my everyday medication that I take), I was still not responding to treatment. I had to take time off work and I was feeling weaker and weaker due to poor oxygen levels and I certainly had no energy to do everyday tasks. I had difficulty in walking as I was out of breath. My peak flow at that time was 150. Prior to that I was usually 180 – still not great, however, after a couple of sessions at the Eltham Osteopathic Clinic, I have improved by 50 making a total of 230, so I’m going in the right direction.
Fast forward to October 2013 – my workplace planned a Health and Safety week. This was when I first heard about Osteopathy and what it can do to enhance your quality of life, painfree and drug free – both of these options appealed to me having had to take medication for a long time. I was under the impression Osteopathy just dealt with your back only – how wrong was I.
Having made the initial phone call little did I know what a difference it would make to my life – if only I had realised before I would have come sooner. I now feel more energised and I can’t sit still now as I want to make up for lost time. I noticed after one session. My husband can’t believe what a difference it has made to me. Who, incidentally, is now attending the Clinic and is responding well to treatment.
I would like to say a BIG thank you to Bobby who is a very professional, kind, friendly, and caring young man for helping me turn things around. I feel a different person now and I am so grateful to him for giving me my life back. I keep on telling everyone how wonderful I feel but best of all they can see the results for themselves. So, if you are in doubt, don’t hesitate .......... and in no time at all, you will reap the benefits.
Thanks again Bobby – keep up the good work.
