We can offer you a fast and efficient emergency treatment at our London osteopathy clinics. We have a competent and highly experienced team of osteopaths and have provided emergency treatments for over 20 years. Our examination has been developed to offer fast, accurate diagnosis and treatment for the relief of back pain, neck pain, sport injuries and many other conditions. As with most medical conditions, early diagnosis is vital in achieving a speedy cost effective recovery as delays in diagnosis of many conditions can impede recovery by weeks. Many of the conditions that we treat can be found on our Conditions page. Your emergency appointment may take 45 minutes, at the end of which, we will advise you about further treatment if necessary.
You will have a private consultation where the osteopath will spend time taking a thorough medical history. All your details will be handled with the strictest confidentiality. This gives the osteopath a background about your health, such as surgeries, accidents, the onset of your condition, and other details affecting your current health.
A thorough orthopaedic, neurological, and osteopathic examination is performed. Based on the findings, the osteopath will decide whether any additional investigations are necessary before treatment can begin, such as X-rays, MRI, CT scans and urine or blood tests. In some cases it may also be necessary to contact your GP.
Osteopaths treat the cause of your problem that painkillers hide. After reviewing all the information the osteopath will use only the techniques appropriate to your condition. Manual techniques where the osteopath uses their hands, such as Specific spinal adjustments, soft tissue techniques, massage, cranial and other gentle techniques can decrease pain, improve joint mobility, decrease muscle spasm, reduce nerve interference and improve circulation increasing your health. Osteopathic adjustment is the application of precise force in accurate direction on a specific joint that is out of alignment or “fixated” (not moving properly). Osteopathy has been proven to be remarkably safe - much safer than taking pain killers! After treatment, many patients report increased general wellbeing -not just improvement with the problem that made them turn to osteopathy in the first place.
After reviewing all the information the osteopath will provide you with a confidential written report and answer the most important questions:
A treatment plan will be tailored to suit your specific needs and any questions or concerns you may have will be answered. Progress is monitored with periodic examinations and follow-up reports.
Like early stages of tooth decay or cancer, poor joint mobility and spinal misalignments or restricted blood flow can be present before warning signs appear. The osteopath will explain how bad posture and spinal decay have contributed to your pain. You may be given specific exercises to do at home and other advice regarding ice and heat as well as advice on ergonomics in you work place and better posture.
Most medical insurance will cover osteopathy but we do ask that you initially settle your account with the Practice at the time of your appointment and then claim from your insurers. We accept cash or cheques, but do not have credit/switch card facilities.
